Dr. Liz LeGay was raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She studied animal sciences at Dalhousie University’s Agricultural college before going on to graduate from the Atlantic Veterinary College. Dr. LeGay is passionate about client communications, preventative medicine, and surgery. In her free time, Dr. LeGay enjoys playing a variety of sports including golf, soccer, yoga, snowboarding, and hockey. She loves spending quality time with her young family; including her partner Ben and their son Arthur. Her fur babies include a retired racing greyhound, and Australian Cattle dog, and a small mixes breed rescue dog, and two cats.

Dr. Mencher was born in the US but grew up in Halifax. After graduating in 1993 from Tufts veterinary school in Massachusetts he moved out west and worked for 18 years in a mixed animal practice in northwest Washington State. In 2011 he returned to Tufts to pursue a Masters degree in conservation medicine, studying the interactions at the interface of human, animal, and environmental health. For the past 3 years, he has split his time between working as a clinical veterinarian in Halifax and doing conservation and community development work with his wife in Papua Indonesia.

In addition, Dr. Mencher is a certified Fear Free™ Professional, working to alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets.

I got into the Veterinary world with my love of animals, science, an teaching. I didn’t really know what a Veterinary Technician was until I attended the AVC Vet Camp, and decided that was what I wanted to do. I went to Maritime Business College for 2 years to become a veterinary technician. When doing our rotations, I found my favorite part of being a veterinary technician; Surgery! I love being able to assist the Veterinarian with scrubbing in, gowning up and being there surgical assistant. I have always had dogs in my life, I currently have 3! My oldest is my 12-year-old Border Collie Sadie; my two youngest, Castile (yes she is names after the Angel in the TV show Supernatural) and Izzy; are both Lab/Australian Shepherd/Blue Healer mixes who are two years old. The three of them are very active, Cass and Izzy love to wrestle and chase each other around when not going for walks or snuggles on the couch. Sadie is never not without something to throw whether it be a Frisbee or a ball. In my spare time, when not spending it with Cass, Izzy, or Sadie; I enjoy reading, playing video games, watching TV and spending time with family and friends.

Abby has always had a love and passion for helping animals. She graduated from Dalhousie university in April 2020 with her Bachelor of Science majoring in animal science along with a certificate in animal welfare.

Over the past year, she has worked at a few veterinary clinics, helping animals and pursuing her passion. After finishing her education, she hopes to become accredited in animal rehabilitation and open her own rehabilitation center for any and all injured animals.

Rae-Lea was born and raised in Montague, Prince Edward Island until moving to Nova Scotia by the time she started elementary school. With her lifelong love for animals, she always knew what she wanted to do from the moment she was a little girl. Less than two years after graduating from high school, Rae-Lea graduated and became a Registered Veterinary Technician and has not stopped since!

Rae-Lea loves patient care and treats every patient that comes in and out of our hospital like her own. She also loves connecting with their owners as well! Rae-Lea loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, yet her main interests lie in behavioral, rehabilitation, and nutritional medicine.

Rae-Lea’s favorite hobbies including spending her downtime with her family and friends, reading, travelling, and finding new places to hike with her fiancé and fur baby, Millie!
